Have we reached a stage wherein we need to be reminded to smile and avoid a frown? Understandingly, ours is a fast-paced world, with lots of worries to worry about ,carrying unending \u201cTo Do \u201dlists .In such a scenario, a smile on our faces or small moments of laughter are becoming increasingly rare. There was a time when families and friends gathered to share stories and enjoy each other\u2019s company with light hearted jokes. Those moments encouraged relationships and helped us ease the pressures of our daily lives. In sharp contrast, today we are burdened with busy schedules, endless activities and to cap it all, the constant engagement with mobiles, internet and social media. All this leaves little room for healthy relationships. One of the main reasons to have so many disjointed families is because we are too busy with ourselves and have no time to spare for other members of our family and friends. The greatest loss of our busy lives is the simple joy of sharing a smile or laughing together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Scientific studies suggest that smiling and laughing reduces stress and lifts our mood in order to relax and contribute towards better sleeping habits. Similarly our philosophers have dwelt deeply on the ability of humor as a tool to cajole a hurt mind. Literature also harps on geography, culture, race, socio-economics and intelligence as factors which determine whether or not a person will smile or laugh. A smile or a laugh is a sign of emotional maturity respecting dignity of others..<br>Wholesome humor leaves behind pleasant memories and strengthens the bonds that hold families and communities together. Why should we hesitate to smile and laugh? Let us rediscover the value of genuine and wholesome humor that brings people together and eventually brightens our everyday lives. A simple smile costs nothing, yet it can brighten and strengthen relationships and bring hope to others.
