In a world filled with smartphones, social media, entertainment and endless distractions, it may seem difficult to imagine a young person making God the centre of his life. Yet, this is what makes St. Carlo Acutis so inspiring, especially for today’s youth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Carlo was born on 3 May 1991 and grew up in Italy. He was an ordinary teenager who enjoyed football, video games, computers, animals and spending time with his friends. He lived much like young people today. What made him special was the way he chose to live his ordinary life, with an extraordinary love for God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Carlo had a deep love for the Eucharist. He often said, \u201cThe Eucharist is my highway to heaven.\u201d For him, the Eucharist was not simply a religious practice but a personal encounter with Jesus. He attended Mass, prayed, went to confession and tried to live his faith through his actions. He also loved technology and was talented with computers. Instead of allowing technology to control his life, he used it to share his faith. He created a website documenting Eucharistic miracles from around the world. His life reminds us that technology itself is not the problem; how we use it matters. Our phones and social media can either consume our time or become instruments through which we educate, encourage and inspire others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
Carlo understood that true happiness does not come from having more followers, possessions or likes. He believed that every person has a unique value and purpose. One of his most famous sayings is, \u201cEveryone is born as an original, but many people end up dying as a photocopy.\u201d In a world where we often compare ourselves with others, these words are a beautiful reminder to be ourselves and discover the person God created us to be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In 2006, at just 15 years of age, Carlo was diagnosed with leukaemia. His life was short, and he died on 12 October 2006. But the length of his life did not determine its impact. His example continues to inspire people around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Carlo’s message is not only for the youth. He reminds all of us that holiness does not require us to be famous or extraordinary. We can come closer to God through the simple things we do every day, praying, forgiving, helping someone in need, spending time with our families, being kind and using our talents for others. St. Carlo Acutis shows us that sainthood is not something meant only for another generation. It can begin in our ordinary lives, in our homes, schools, workplaces and communities. His life leaves us with a simple question: What am I doing with the life God has given me? May we learn from Carlo to use technology wisely, love others sincerely, remain faithful to God and live our lives with purpose. And may we never forget his beautiful reminder:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
