Opening Prayer
The meeting began with a prayer led by the representatives of SCC 15 and 16.
Welcome
The President of the Parish Pastoral Council, Rev. Fr. Ubaldo Fernandes, welcomed the members on behalf of the Executive Committee (Exco). He invoked the blessings of the Almighty upon all PPC members and their families.
Reading and Approval of the Previous Meeting Minutes
The Secretary read the minutes of the previous meeting. The minutes were passed by the house, approved and seconded.
Mother Mary’s Home Visit
The Parish Priest informed the members that the visits of Our Lady to parishioners’ homes would commence on 13th October 2026 after the 5:30 p.m. Mass. The names of the parishioners receiving Our Lady on the first day were to be submitted to the Church Office. The Legion of Mary association was requested to ensure that the statues were kept ready for Mass. The Parish Priest suggested to serve only two items during the visit of our Lady in their homes and advised avoiding soft drinks.
All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day
The following arrangements were discussed:
All Saints’ Day On 1st of November, Prayers will be held in the cemetery at 6:00 p.m.
All Souls’ Day
First Mass: 6:15 a.m. in the cemetery, Second Mass: 8:00 a.m. in the cemetery, Third Mass: 9:30 a.m. in the church. The Parish Priest requested the members to ensure that only one flower vase and two candles were placed at the graves of their loved ones. He advised against excessive flower decorations, as they make cleaning difficult and damage the lawn. Members were also requested to ensure that candle wax did not fall on the graves or the surrounding areas.
Kantaram Lharam – Parish Singing Event
The members were informed that the parish singing event, Kantaram Lharam, would be held on 20th January 2027.
Last date for submission of entries: 10th January 2027. Tentative dates for auditions, Practice : 14th and 16th January 2027. The Parish Priest informed the members that he has booked the drama “Bessaum Ghorjechem“ written and directed by Mr. Lawry Travasso on the Parish feast day which will start at 7 :00 pm .
Any Other Business
Choir Participation in the Guinness World Record
The Secretary informed the members that the choir of St. Sebastian Parish would participate in an attempt to create a Guinness World Record during the First Konkani Music Mega Convention organised by Mandd Sobhann in Mangaluru which would take place from 3rd to 15th November 2026.The parish choir was scheduled to perform on 15th November 2026. It was further informed that the convention would bring together groups from across the world to celebrate Konkani music.
Message from the President
The President had no special message but reminded everyone that October is the month of the Holy Rosary. He encouraged all members to pray the Rosary with their families and expressed confidence in the loving protection and intercession of Mother Mary.
Final Prayer and Blessing.
The meeting concluded with a final prayer led by the representatives of SCC 15 and 16, followed by the blessings of the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Ubaldo Fernandes.
