“Blessed are the peace makers, for they will be called children of God”.. Mathew 5:9.

In a world wounded by conflict, inequality and division, Church is called to be a beacon of peace and justice. It is not just a day on the calendar but it is a reminder of our Christian duty to build the kingdom of God here on earth- a kingdom founded on love, truth and fairness.

Peace is more than just the absence of war. True peace, the Shalom of God is wholeness-when every person lives with dignity ,security and hope. Justice is more than a court verdict. Biblical justice means giving each person what is due to them as a child of God, especially the poor, voiceless and the marginalised.

You cannot have one without the other. As Pope Paul VI said, “If you want peace, work for justice. Where there is no justice, peace cannot last. Where there is no peace, justice cannot flourish.”

Are you a worried mom? Do you constantly worry about your child falling sick? Does every rainy season or change in weather seem to bring another cough, cold, fever, or allergy? Is your child frequently affected by recurrent respiratory infections, skin allergies, digestive problems, or low immunity? Despite providing healthy food, maintaining hygiene, and following the right dietary practices, does your child continue to fall ill time and again?

If your answer is yes, you are certainly not alone. Many parents share these concerns and often wonder what more they can possibly do.

The encouraging news is that there is much we can do to help strengthen a child’s natural immunity and overall well-being. Building immunity is not about finding a single solution but about nurturing the child physically, emotionally, mentally, and socially.

The Inaugural Mass for the Catechetical Year 2026 – 2027 was solemnly celebrated on Sunday, 28th June 2026 at 8:00 a.m at St. Sebastian Church, Aquem.

Theme for the Catechetical Year : “Abide in Me” – Jn 15:4

As a creative gesture, the catechists displayed the logo for this pastoral year. As a symbol of entrusting oneself to God, each member placed a leaf bearing their name on the Holy Cross, signifying their commitment to “Abide in Christ” and grow together as one family in faith.

The Holy Eucharist was presided over by Rev. Fr. Ubaldo Fernandes, Parish Priest. In his homily, Fr. Ubaldo reflected on the theme “Abide in Me”, emphasizing that catechists, students and parents are called to remain deeply rooted in Christ in order to bear lasting fruit in faith and witness. He asked all to nurture a living relationship with Jesus through prayer, the Sacraments and service.

Theme: “Abide in Me” (John 15:4)

The Youth Inaugural of St. Sebastian Church, Aquem was successfully conducted with the inspiring theme “Abide in Me” (John 15:4). The celebration began with the Holy Eucharistic Celebration, which was beautifully animated and celebrated by the parish youth. During the Mass, the newly formed Youth Executive Committee and members solemnly took their Youth Oath, reaffirming their commitment to serve God, the Church, and the community with dedication and faith. A special highlight of the celebration was the release of the youth music video, “Mhoje Sovem Rigun Ravat,”  which was written by Fr. Ubaldo, inspired by the programme theme and symbolizing the youth’s desire to remain united with Christ. Following the mass, the gathering brought together the parish youth, parish leaders, and guests for a meaningful day of fellowship, faith, and spiritual growth.

The programme began with refreshments, allowing participants to interact and build friendships in a welcoming atmosphere. This was followed by a warm welcome extended to the Parish Priest and Youth Animator, Fr. Ubaldo, the guest speaker Fr. Menoy, Sr. Godwina, and all the youth present. The significance of the theme “Abide in Me” was highlighted, encouraging everyone to remain rooted in Christ and grow together in faith, love, and service.

Van Mahotsav

Van Mohatsav was celebrated on 4th July 2026 with great joy. The programme began with a prayer service followed by planting of a sapling by the administrator Ma’am Cassie D’souza and Manager Rev. Fr. Ubaldo Fernandes to mark the importance of caring for nature.

A student recited a poem on the importance of trees and the need to protect them. This was followed by a beautiful song that encouraged everyone to love and save trees.

The students also presented a skit that showed the importance of caring for Mother Earth and protecting trees. Teacher Sanlee Dias gave a short talk on the importance of Van Mahotsav. An informative video was also shown to help students understand the value of trees and the need to protect the environment.

The programme concluded with a message to love, protect, and care for nature by the Administrator Ma’am Cassie D’souza and Manager Rev.Fr. Ubaldo Fernandes.

Abide In Me (jn 15:4-5)

Greetings in the name of Lord Jesus Christ.

It gives me great joy to write this, my first message for the July issue of Pormoll, as the newly appointed Parish Priest of Aquem Parish. I thank Almighty God for His loving guidance throughout my 34 years of Priestly Ministry in the Archdiocese of Goa and Daman.

“Everyday is a fresh start, a blank canvas to paint upon. Remember, the future depends on what you do today.” Inspiring and refreshing words of motivation to the young and the old. 

Well, the new academic year 2026-2027 has just begun and the young pillars of tomorrow, right from the tiny tots to the grown up kids, have begun their activities in right earnest. We wish them nothing but the very best in moulding themselves into future successful citizens. New class, new teachers and new friends will definitely add up to a future full of fresh challenges and aspirations. An extra effort from the children, teachers and the parents will go a long way in achieving the best possible results which will be pleasing to one and all. 

Points Discussed In The Parish Pastoral Council Meeting Held In The Month Of June. 

The meeting began with a prayer led by SCC 7 and SCC 8. 

The new Parish Priest Rev Fr Ubaldo Fernandes was welcomed by the Moderator on behalf of the Executive Committee and PPC members with a floral bouquet. 

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and presented by the Secretary. 

Travelling has always been a source of peace, joy, and spiritual renewal in my life. By God’s abundant grace, I have been privileged to visit many places over the years as a student, as a professional, and with my family. Yet, during my recent pilgrimage to Chennai, I could not help but wonder, why it had taken me so long to visit such a sacred and spiritually enriching destination within our own country. Those who have already undertaken this pilgrimage will undoubtedly agree that it is a deeply inspiring and soul-stirring experience. Chennai holds a unique place in Christian history through its profound association with Our Lord Jesus Christ through St. Thomas the Apostle. The rich blend of faith, history, and devotion that permeates these holy sites leaves an enduring impression on every pilgrim.

Every year on 12th July, people around the world observe the International Day of Hope, a day that reminds us of the power of hope to transform lives, communities and nations. In a world often troubled by conflict, poverty, loneliness and uncertainty, hope remains a light that guides us towards a better future.

Hope is more than optimism or wishful thinking. It is the confidence that positive change is possible even in difficult circumstances. Hope gives strength to those who are suffering, courage to those facing challenges and encouragement to those who feel discouraged. It inspires people to continue working for peace, justice and the common good.
