After the normal rainfall in the months of July and August we are looking forward to the cool and dry months of September onwards.
After having begun their classes in June the students are looking forward to the coming festival holidays.
It is with a deep sense of sorrow and regret that I have to write on a subject which all of us dread -DEATH – the sudden and unexpected news about the passing away of our Editor Prof. Synesio Alfred Antao, shocked us all. It was on the early morning of Thursday 16th August 2018, when he answered the Lords call and breathed his last.

23 years ago Serendipity led me to the Nobel profession of teaching. Soon after I did my post-graduation in English, I got a call to substitute a professor for a few months. The immense love and respect led me to take up teaching as a career. Today, I teach at Govt. Polytechnic Curchorem. To students pursuing their education in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic engineering and computer Engineering.
As I was scrolling through you tube one relaxed evening, a black and white video which appeared on the side suddenly caught my attention, since black and white usually indicates some nostalgic recording from the archives. On opening the video to my surprise and delight it was the video of the highlights of the 1975 world cup hockey final which India won beating Pakistan in the finals. This brought back a gush of memories of that magical summer afternoon on 15th march 1975, at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia when India was crowned King of the hockey world and which I consider to be India’s finest sporting hour and triumph even more than the 1983 cricket world cup triumph.
The very fact that the girl child has become a topic of discussion and debate indicates that there something different in the case of a girl child than the rest of the human species, or is there?
One of the many reasons this topic is being discussed is the deeply disturbing statistics that came to light in the year 2011, wherein the national Census 2011 revealed the shocking decline of child sex ratio (i.e. ratio of the number of females vs every 1000 males) –from from the year 2001 where there were 927 females to 1000 males, to only 914 females in the year 2011.
It’s time to say “Thank you to our educators for their knowledge, dedication, inspiration, kindness, encouragement and much more!”
5th Sept – Teacher’s Day is a special day for the appreciation of teachers and includes celebrations to honour them for their special contributions in a particular field area or the community in general.
It is very clear that a girl child is always a blessing. Not just for her parents but also for the society. Girl child is a reason for Continuation of Life in this world. A small girl child starts her life as a daughter, a sister later on in life a wife, a mother and finally a grandmother. Even though boys and girls are equally important, there is always a stigma attached to girl child with relation to educating a girl child. Read more
The Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross is celebrated every year on September 14. On this day, the Church celebrates both the discovery and the recovery of the True Cross of Jesus Christ. The Holy Cross is a symbol that is both essential and inseparable from our Christian identity.
Some youth ask the following question. “Should I suffer hardship, sickness and pain …. for the sins of my Parents? Am I responsible for their deeds and omissions?” They feel disturbed and confused.
