Little Promises, Big Changes: A Journey of Faith, Love and Service
Advent is a time of waiting and preparing for the coming of Jesus. How can we make this season more fruitful? Our altar servers and young catechists share their personal promises and the little ways by which they hope to make a difference this Advent.
1. A Heart Filled with Love – Kaeden Fernandes
As an altar server, I want to make this Advent more fruitful by not just serving at the altar, but also bringing Jesus into my everyday life. At home and school, I can spread Christ’s love through small acts of kindness, helping others, and making little sacrifices. This Christmas, I want to give Him a beautiful gift, that is, a heart filled with faith, love, and a willingness to serve.
2. Serving with Greater Devotion – Aaron Dias
As an altar server, I will make this Advent a fruitful season by serving at the altar with greater reverence, dedication, and prayerfulness. I will prepare my heart for the coming of Jesus by attending Mass faithfully, spending time in prayer, and helping others whenever I can. Through my service, I hope to set a good example of faith, humility, and love, and grow closer to God during this holy season.
3. A Welcoming Heart for Baby Jesus – Blaine J. Lopes
I want to make this Advent season truly meaningful by serving at the altar with all my heart. When I am at Mass, I will focus on doing my duties, like carrying the cross, ringing the bells, or assisting the priest, with reverence and respect. Outside of church, I will make time for daily prayer and look for ways to help my family and friends. By doing these things, I hope to change my heart into a warm and welcoming place for Baby Jesus at Christmas.
4. Small Acts, a Fruitful Advent – Kayden Keith Noronha
I will make this Advent fruitful by praying daily, serving at the altar with love and devotion, and helping others with a kind heart. I will be obedient, humble, and prepare my heart for the coming of Jesus.
5. Growing Closer to Jesus Through Service – Kale Dias
When I was 8 years old, I joined the altar servers’ group. At first, I did not know much about altar serving, but as time passed, I understood its true importance. Through serving at the altar, I have come closer to Jesus day by day. I feel blessed and happy whenever I serve during Holy Mass.
Serving as an altar server has made me more confident, faithful, and proud. I thank God for giving me this wonderful opportunity to serve Him.
During this Advent season, I want to be different. Advent is a time of waiting and preparing for the coming of Jesus. As an altar server, I want to be more prayerful, more disciplined, and more reverent at the altar. I want to serve with a joyful heart, help my fellow servers, arrive on time, and participate more actively in the Mass. By preparing the altar with love and keeping silence with respect, I want to help others also prepare their hearts to welcome Jesus.
6. Making My Heart Like Jesus’ Heart- Azaya Fernandes
Group: St. Carlo Acutis, Book 4
This Advent, I want to become kinder, more loving, and helpful.
I will pray every day, listen to my parents and teachers, share with others, and help people who are in need. I will also pray for the children in Gaza who are badly affected by the wars and for peace in the world.
I want to be ready to welcome Jesus with love. This Advent, I will try to make my heart a little more like Jesus’ heart.
7. Preparing Our Hearts for Baby Jesus – Anrich D’Costa
As altar servers, we want to make this Advent different by preparing our hearts for the coming of Jesus. We will try to be more prayerful, humble, obedient, and helpful to others. We will serve at the altar with love, respect, and devotion. We will attend Mass regularly, pray every day, and help our family and friends. We will also encourage others to come closer to God. This Advent, we want to prepare not only the altar but also our hearts to welcome Baby Jesus with lots of love and joy.
8. Making Each Day Count for Christ- Vera Barretto
Have you ever wondered how we can truly make room for Jesus, not just within our homes, but in the quiet sanctuary of our hearts?
This Advent, echoing the call to “prepare the way for the Lord” (Isaiah 40:3), I am striving to prepare both my heart and the sacred altar I serve with reverent devotion and love. Through sincere prayer, punctual service, helping at home without being asked, forgiving readily, and choosing kindness even when it is difficult, I will turn ordinary moments into meaningful offerings to Christ. Whenever I light a candle or arrange the altar, I will remind myself that I, too, must become a little light for others. My goal is not merely to count the days until Christmas, but to make each day count for Christ.
9. Deepening my relationship with Jesus – Johann Mazarelo
As an altar server, I wish to make this Advent fruitful by deepening my relationship with Jesus and preparing my heart to welcome Him. I will serve at the altar with devotion, reverence, and sincerity, remembering that serving God is a privilege. I will spend more time in prayer, reflect on the Word of God, and follow the teachings of Jesus in my daily life. I will also strive to be more patient, humble, kind, and helpful towards others, spreading love and joy through my words and actions. Through faithful service and spiritual growth, I hope to become a better altar server and a true witness of Christ’s love, welcoming Him with a heart filled with faith, peace, and gratitude.
May this Advent help us prepare not only for Christmas, but also for a closer relationship with Jesus through prayer, kindness, humility, and loving service.
